Litigation Assistant

When the insurance company is not willing to accept our client’s demands and it becomes impossible to amicably agree on a settlement amount, the pre-litigation phase has to end and a lawsuit has to be filed with the court. At that point, a litigation assistant will take care of the case to make sure that all deadlines are met. The job duties may include conducting research, preparing documents for court hearings, preparing discovery, scheduling meetings, and providing case status updates to clients.

A litigation assistant’s workload will depend on the number of active cases that the firm has. The biggest part of a litigation assistant job is to prepare discovery responses, on average this process can take 4-5 days of complete dedication. Also, he will have to give litigation updates to the clients, draft motions, prepare minor comps, answer the defense counsel calls, and so on.
